We’re looking for someone reliable, hands-on, and happy to pitch in wherever needed — someone who takes pride in making sure plants leave the nursery efficiently and in top-quality condition for our customers. A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and care for doing things well are what matter most.
About the Role
As a Nursery Worker, you’ll be involved in all aspects of plant care, from propagation to dispatch. You may work across different teams, ensuring plants are nurtured to the highest quality while maintaining a clean and efficient nursery environment.
This is a physical, hands-on role that requires attention to detail, teamwork, and a passion for horticulture. This is a full-time, permanent position.
What You'll Be Doing
Dispatch – Assist with order picking, labelling, and preparing plants for dispatch to ensure timely customer deliveries.
Stock Management – Relocate, organise, count, and label plants as needed.
Plant Care – Assist propagation, potting, pruning, and maintaining plant hygiene. Monitor plant health, apply fertilisers, weed suppressors, and sprays, and ensure proper hydration through irrigation and hand-watering.
Nursery Maintenance – Help maintain nursery equipment, keep workspaces clean and tidy, and assist with simple repairs and general upkeep.
Safety & Wellbeing – Follow all health and safety protocols, proactively report hazards, and contribute to a safe and positive work culture.
Team Collaboration – Participate in daily team briefings, support different nursery teams as needed, and assist with training and process improvements.
Key Skills and Experience
A strong work ethic and enthusiasm for plant care.
Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
Experience in a nursery or horticulture setting is an advantage.
Spray experience is of benefit, and a Grow Safe certificate is highly desirable.
Attention to detail and a proactive approach to tasks.
Forklift or tractor operation experience is a plus.
A heavy vehicle licence is advantageous.
A current NZ driver’s licence and horticulture qualification are beneficial.
